The 3G on the iphone can be turned on and off, so this phone has EDGE as well. It’s mentioned a few news articles ago.

“And ill bet it has 32gb.” Not so sure on that but i hope so :D

“The 3G on the iphone can be turned on and off, so this phone has EDGE as well. It’s mentioned a few news articles ago.”
Its 3g….it wont have edge n it wont need it ,even if u turn it off it will go to 2.5G or 2.0G

“Will it be prepaid?” I think it might , although it is cheaper to go n a plan..

2.5G = EDGE

In reply to Jack:
The Edge chip is completely different to the 3G Chip, the Max speed of Edge is equal to the speed of 2.5G
And what craz3d was saying is that it will have a edge chip aswell as a 3G chip.
Pwned

In reply to alftflood3r, if you actually research 2.5G doesn’t exist, it is another name for, thats right, EDGE. Most 3G chps have the capability to switch back to 2.5G (EDGE) if they are requested too.

I believe you used the word pwned.

here’s the deal, my phone had to be replaced and I thought of hanging out got the Iphone. According to the rep at Optus, it is going to be a long wait before we see these units on plans. November is more likely. The new 3g unit is supposed to be released this month, but not in Au. All this is apples way of marketing. I ended up getting a LG Ku990, great unit.

i work for Optus and i heard one of the high-up guys mention that Australia will get the 3G iPhone as the first release, rather than the original. Providers in Australia wont touch it if its not 3G enabled.
