If your lucky enough to be an OS X user (which most of us are!) you can now jailbreak, activate and unlock your 1.1.4 iPhone in just a few easy clicks with the newest version of the simple to use GUI iNdependence.
Unfortunately its only available if you are an OS X user but Windows method will be released very soon.

Great! Looking forward to your guide. I’ve got an original iPhone at 1.1.1 Jailbroken and AnySIM unlocked and want to upgrade it to 1.1.4, but not sure of the order (e.g. re-virginise first? then update through iTunes? Then run iNdependence? etc)
Zibri has also made an extremely easy to use Ziphone update (2.5) but in saying that i don’t have an iPhone so not sure if it works but from the reviews i have read it works a treat!
^^he also says that you need to restore your iPhone for it to work best
